Gabriel began working in the London bureau of ABC News during university holidays. After graduating, she moved from desk assistant to overnight assignment editor and reporter. 

By the time she was 25, she was a Broadcast Journalist for the BBC, working as a producer for BBC World News, HARDtalk and World Service Radio.  

She also spent a period at Bloomberg TV as an interview and field producer.
